Who can join?

Membership is open to anyone, although we do have to insist that under 18s are accompanied by a parent or guardian when they attend a meet.

What does membership cost?

The annual membership is only £15. We also charge £8 per night on the hut meets.

Do you cater for climbers or hillwalkers?

Both. On a typical weekend meet, it is likely that some people will go climbing, while others go hillwalking.

How are the weekend meets organised?

We send out an email about a week beforehand, which includes directions to the hut and details of how and when to get into it. People make their own way to the hut, although some will make arrangements to share transport. We don't plan a "set" walk or climb for any day, but arrangments are kept flexible - often a decision on where to go is made only just before leaving the hut! Often, several small groups set out in different directions, so there will be a choice of what to do.

What facilities are in the huts?

These vary, but all have running water and cooking facilities with pots and pans provided. Most have hot showers. Sleeping accommodation is usually in one room, often in bunk beds or similar - bring your own sleeping bag.

What does the club do, apart from the weekend meets?

There are usually a couple of week-long trips to Scotland each year and members have also made arrangements for trips to various parts of Europe, particularly the French or Swiss Alps, and Spain. Some members also visit local climbing walls on midweek evenings.

Would I have to attend a minimum number of meets each year?

No - you can attend as many or as few as you like. Going to the pub on Thursday evenings is not essential (many of our members never go!), though it can be a way of arranging additional days out between meets and/or trips to a climbing wall.

How do I go about joining?

The best way is to come along to the pub (The Great Western, Kidderminster Road, Bewdley) one Thursday at about 8.45pm to meet us - you'll receive a warm welcome and we can give you further details of the club and upcoming meets. It's best to let us know when you're coming so that we can look out for you on a particular night. If you can't get to the pub, let us know and we'll find some other way of getting in touch.
